MUSICIAN Mohini Dey addressed rumours linking her to AR Rahman, following the recent announcement of his separation from Saira Banu after 29 years of marriage.
Dey, who divorced her husband, Mark Hartsuch, shortly after Rahman’s announcement, dismissed the speculation in a video posted on Instagram.
Calling Rahman a “father figure” and “a legend,” the bassist emphasised the professional nature of their relationship, which spans over eight and a half years.
“It is utterly unbelievable to see the amount of misinformation and baseless assumptions/claims against me & @arrahman. It feels criminal that the media has vulgarized the two events,” she stated.
Dey also highlighted that Rahman has a daughter her age and expressed disappointment over the lack of empathy from the public. She concluded her message by asking people to stop making false claims and respect their privacy.
Saira Banu supported Rahman in the wake of the allegations, describing him as a good person and urging others not to defame him. She also shared that she has been dealing with health issues and is currently undergoing treatment in Mumbai.
Rahman’s divorce announcement and the subsequent rumors have sparked widespread discussions, but those involved have called for sensitivity and respect for personal matters.
