INDIAN prime minister Narendra Modi and US vice president Kamala Harris will be among the invitees to Bengaluru Tech Summit-2021 (BTS-2021), a flagship event to be held by the government of the South Indian state of Karnataka between November 17 and 19. The event will take place in Bengaluru (Bangalore), the state capital which is also called ‘India’s Silicon Valley’.
Karnataka’s deputy chief minister C N Ashwath Narayan announced this on Monday (5) and added that the summit would be held in hybrid format with limited physical participation.
Narayan also convened a preparatory meeting with officials of the state department of electronics, information technology, biotechnology and science and technology and chairpersons of the vision groups on Monday. Kris Gopalakrishna, chairperson, state vision group on information technology; Dr Kiran Majumdar Shaw, chairperson, state vision group on biotechnology and Prashanth Prakash, chairperson of the state vision group for start-ups, attended the meeting virtually.
“Prime minister Narendra Modi will be invited to inaugurate the conclave and US vice-president Kamala Harris will be invited to participate in the event,” Narayan said.
According to the statement, the first day of the summit would be held as ‘Thought Leadership Day’ (Hall of Fame), the second day would be ‘Technologies and Strategies Day’ (Hall of Techies) and the third ‘StartUps Day’ (Hall of Future).
Prior to the summit, ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ events will be held in other cities of Karnataka like Mysuru, Hubballi and Mangaluru in September and October. The dates of these events were yet to be decided. Top central ministers like Nirmala Sitharaman, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsh Vardhan and Nitin Gadkari will be invited, among others, to participate in the programmes.
