Indian prime minister Narendra Modi is known for spending special occasions with the armed forces. This Diwali, there will be no exception as Modi will be among the Indian soldiers as he has been doing for the last eight years.
Days before the festival of light, the prime minister will visit the Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines.
He will first visit Kedarnath where he will perform a ‘puja’ and assess the development projects that are currently underway. He will also pay obeisance at the Badrinath Temple and review the projects taken up under the Badrinath Master Plan.
He is scheduled to visit both the places that are located in the northern state of Uttarakhand on October 21. The local authorities kicked off the preparations for Modi’s visit to the temples.
On Diwali, which falls on October 24, Modi will spend time with the soldiers. He has been celebrating the festival with the troops every year since he was first elected in 2014.
He is also likely to visit Maana, the last Indian village from the border of China, which is located in Chamoli district.
After becoming the prime minister, Modi spent the first Diwali with troops in Siachen in 2014. He celebrated the festival with troops in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district twice — in 2019 and 2021.
