INDIAN prime minister Narendra Modi was on Thursday (12) seen donning an unusual attire as he visited the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand and offered prayers at the Adi Kailash peak, which according to Hindu mythology is the adobe of Lord Shiva, at Parvati Kund in the Pithoragarh district. The area is not too far from India’s border with China.

The prime minister wore a traditional off-white tribal robe at the time of offering prayers and was accompanied by local priests Virendra Katyal and Gopal Singh.

Adi Kailash is located at an altitude of 6,300 metres and is also called Chota Kailash or ‘Little Kaislash’. It is a replica of Mount Kailash in Tibet.
