THE Indian Army personnel unfurled the Tricolour in Galwan Valley in Ladakh on the occasion of New Year.
According to sources in the security establishment, the personnel hoisted the National Flag on New Year’s Eve. The move took place amid reports in the media that claimed that Chinese troops displayed their flag in the region a few days ago.

Media reports said earlier that Beijing had sought to “rename” 15 places in the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh in its map two days ahead of implementing its new border law.
China counters India, says Arunachal its ‘inherent part’
Last week, New Delhi said that it has witnessed reports of China trying to rename some places in Arunachal “in its own language”. It asserted that the border state has been and will always be an integral part of India and “assigning invented names does not alter this fact”.
In response to a media query on reports that China has renamed some places in Arunachal in its own language, Arindam Bagchi had said China had also sought to assign such names in April 2017.
After the clash between the troops of the two nuclear-powered neighbours in Galwan in 2020, several rounds of military and diplomatic talks have resulted in a stalemate.
Disengagement at some border points took place but a huge build-up of forces on each side of eastern Ladakh even in harsh winter conditions indicates that the situation is far from being calm.
India claims that the situation along the Line of Actual Control has been caused unilaterally by the Chinese to alter the status quo and in violation of bilateral pacts.
