Malayalam cinema legend Mammootty is in good health, his PR team confirmed on Sunday (March 16), shutting down rumors about his alleged cancer diagnosis. Over the past few days, speculation regarding Mammootty’s health has been circulating online, causing concern among his fans. However, a fresh statement from his representatives has put an end to these claims.

According to Mammootty’s PR team, the actor has taken a short sabbatical from his professional commitments in observance of Ramzan. The team clarified that he is not dealing with any health issues but is simply taking time off for fasting and prayers. Addressing the rumors, his PR team told a Mumbai-based publication:

“It is fake news. He is on vacation because he is fasting for Ramzan. He is on a break from his shoot schedule as well because of that. In fact, after the break he will go back to shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s film with Mohanlal.”

Mammootty’s upcoming film with Mohanlal is tentatively titled MMMN and is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan. This highly anticipated film also stars Nayanthara in a pivotal role. Last month, production house Anto Joseph Film Company shared a YouTube video in which Nayanthara was warmly welcomed by the MMMN team.

Mammootty and Mohanlal have previously shared screen space in multiple films, including Avidathepole Ivideyum, Adiyozhukkukal, Karimpinpoovinakkare, Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu, Adhwaytham, Vishnulokam, and No. 20 Madras Mail. Their on-screen collaborations have always been a treat for Malayalam cinema fans.

Similarly, Mammootty has worked with Nayanthara in notable films such as Rapakal, Thaskara Veeran, Bhaskar the Rascal, and Puthiya Niyamam.

Apart from the three leading stars, MMMN also boasts an ensemble cast, including Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Shaheen Siddique, Sanal Aman, Danish Husain, Revathi, Zarin Shihab, Darshana Rajendran, Renji Panicker, and Rajiv Menon. Reports suggest that the film’s shoot will span over 150 days across multiple locations, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Abu Dhabi, and London.

Meanwhile, Mammootty was last seen in the crime comedy Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, directed by Gautham Menon. He played the role of a private detective in the film, which received praise for its engaging storyline and his performance.

Looking ahead, the superstar will be seen in two major projects—Bazooka, an action thriller directed by Deeno Dennis, and Megastar 428, a yet-to-be-titled film marking his 428th appearance in cinema.

With his return to the sets of MMMN after Ramzan, Mammootty is set to deliver more exciting performances, and fans eagerly await his upcoming projects.
