In a shocking incident, a three-and-half-year-old nursery school student was allegedly raped by the driver of her school bus in Bhopal, the capital of the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It has been reported that the crime took place in the presence of the bus’s woman helper who was accused of trying to cover up the crime.
Both the driver and the helper have been arrested.
The kid’s family came to learn about the incident after her mother saw marks on her body and asked about it. She then told her what had happened and the family then approached the school management who apparently denied the charges, India Today reported.
Subsequently, the family went to the police and the driver was then arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. A rape case was also lodged.
The helper was also arrested for allegedly trying to hide the crime.
Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra said both the accused have been arrested. He added that the school authorities also tried to cover up the crime and would also be questioned as well. If they were also found guilty, action would be taken, he said.
Madhya Pradesh is ruled by prime minister’s Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party.
