YOGI Adityanath, the chief minister of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday (10) inaugurated the biggest mall of the UAE-based LuLu Group International – the LuLu Mall – in state capital Lucknow.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader inspected the mall after inaugurating it and saw some of its key attractions, including the LuLu Hypermarket and Funtura, a family entertainment zone.

Accompanying Adityanath were, among others, LuLu Group chairman MA Yusuff Ali, Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly speaker Satish Mahana and the state’s former deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma. The LuLu Mall is part of the project which was announced at the mega investors’ summit organised in Lucknow in February 2018 where prime minister Narendra Modi was present as the chief guest.

The mall in Lucknow is the LuLu Group International’s first in northern India. All its four other malls are located in the southern part, including in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur (Kerala) and Bengaluru (Karnataka).

Yussuf Ali, who is from Kerala, said, “I met chief minister Yogi Adityanath ji in 2018 and presented the details of the LuLu Lucknow. He instantly said that you start the work, the government will support (you). I would like to thank him and the Government of Uttar Pradesh for all the support.”

The latest mall is the LuLu Group’s 235th venture and the biggest among all. It has 22 lakh square feet space on offer and is likely to provide employment – direct and indirect – to nearly 15,000 people.
