LORD Hanuman, a highly revered god in India, has been chosen as the official mascot for the upcoming Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok in Thailand, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the continental governing body.
The tournament kicks off on Wednesday (12) and continues till Sunday (17).

The Asian Athletics Association, headquartered in Singapore, explained that Hanuman exemplifies exceptional qualities such as speed, strength, courage, wisdom and unwavering loyalty and devotion.
The logo for the 25th Asian Athletics Championships symbolizes the participation of athletes, their skills, teamwork, athletic prowess, dedication and sportsmanship, as stated on the association’s website.
India, led by shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor and long jumper Murali Sreeshankar, aims to make a strong impact at the Championships.
The Indian contingent departed from Delhi and Bengaluru on Saturday (8) night, embarking on their journey to participate in the five-day Asian Athletics Championships.
