Shreena Patel, an abstract artist from London, recently won SHE Awards in the arts and culture category.
The SHE Awards was launched in 2018 by Sharifa Begum and her husband Imdad Basit to celebrate the centenary of women’s right to vote in the UK. The award recognises and celebrates the achievements of women from all walks of life.
This year, the award was hosted by BBC radio presenter Noreen Khan who said “she loved the vibe and the fact we were celebrating real women and not celebrities makes it special”.
The event where Patel was awarded saw 50 people from all over the UK getting honoured.
Patel has among her clients some high-profile people, ranging from cricketers to actors from India and the UK, and is behind ‘Art by Shree’, the business name for her artistic endeavours.
‘Art by Shree’ was founded in 2018 and Patel turned it into a full-time business during the 2020 lockdown. Her work ranges from spiritual/ religious to abstract and features her signature lines. She has also featured in British Vogue, Apprentice, Radio, Asiana TV, newspapers such as Eastern Eye and Asian Voice, among others.
Her work has also featured in Diwali in the Square, Neasden Temple, Sanatan Temple and she has had special commission requests from the Neasden Temple. Patel also does a lot of charity work and has donated paintings to youth centres, temples and children at various religious events.
