A new report has surfaced detailing claims about late One Direction star Liam Payne’s struggles with his sexuality and allegations that he pressured his former fiancée, Maya Henry, into terminating a pregnancy.
According to Rolling Stone, sources alleged that Liam privately “struggled with his sexuality” while he was in an on-again, off-again relationship with Maya from 2018 to 2022. The report claims that Maya discovered inappropriate messages Liam had sent to other men when he “accidentally broadcast … them to their TV.”
The report further alleges that in 2020, Liam forced Maya to terminate a pregnancy by giving her an ultimatum. “Liam sent Maya a long message saying it’s either get an abortion and stay with him, or raise the kid alone and he will not acknowledge either of them. This was a surprise to Maya because Liam wanted to have a family, and they were trying for a kid,” a source told Rolling Stone.
Liam had previously become a father in March 2017 when he and his ex, Cheryl Cole, welcomed their son, Bear, who is now seven years old.
Maya, now 25, reportedly agreed to terminate the pregnancy. She later hinted at the abortion in her 2024 novel, Looking Forward, which she said was “inspired” by her romance with Liam. Speaking to People, she stated, “What I went through in real life is very similar to what Mallory went through in the book. I definitely did have some complications [following my abortion], and I did have to go to the hospital alone.”
The Rolling Stone report also alleges that Liam was physically abusive toward Maya during their relationship. Sources claimed that he pushed her down a flight of stairs and even chased her with an axe at one point.
In a statement to the publication, Maya expressed that while she deeply loved Liam, he hurt her in ways she will “never fully understand.” She added that he continued to cause her pain even years after their breakup.
As of now, Liam’s family and representatives have not issued any statements regarding the allegations.
Liam Payne tragically passed away on October 16, 2024, after falling from the third floor of a Buenos Aires hotel. His then-girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, had left him just two days before the incident due to their prolonged stay in Argentina.
An autopsy revealed that he died instantly from “multiple traumatic injuries” leading to “internal and external hemorrhage.” A toxicology report released on November 7 found alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants in his system at the time of death.
Liam’s passing shocked fans and the music industry alike, with tributes pouring in from friends, family, and former bandmates. However, these latest revelations have cast new light on the complexities of his personal life.
