Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan’s much-anticipated superhero film Krrish 4 is facing yet another setback. According to reports, director Siddharth Anand and his production house, Marflix, have exited the project, leading to further delays. Additionally, veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who has been at the helm of the Krrish franchise, has reportedly decided not to direct the film, opting to “pass on the baton” instead.
The delays surrounding Krrish 4 are largely attributed to its escalating budget, which has reportedly soared to $80.85 million. This has made it difficult for production houses to continue with the project. While Hrithik Roshan was keen on having his close friend Siddharth Anand direct the film, budget constraints have reportedly made it unfeasible for the filmmaker.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the high production costs have deterred multiple studios from backing the film. However, another report from India Today Digital contradicts these claims, stating that the “astronomical budget figures doing the rounds are completely untrue.”
With Siddharth Anand stepping away from Krrish 4, the film will now be produced by Hrithik Roshan’s home banner, FilmKraft, in collaboration with a new studio partner. Marflix, Anand’s production house, is set to focus on other projects outside the Krrish franchise.
The Krrish series, which began with Koi… Mil Gaya (2003) and continued with Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013), has been one of Bollywood’s most successful superhero franchises. Fans have been eagerly awaiting a fourth installment, but multiple delays have left them in suspense.
Despite the production hurdles, Krrish 4 remains one of Bollywood’s most awaited films. While a new director and production team are yet to be officially announced, FilmKraft’s commitment to the project suggests that the film is still in the pipeline.
Hrithik Roshan, who has been busy with War 2 and Fighter, has not yet made an official statement regarding the latest developments. However, industry insiders believe that once the production team is finalized, the film may finally move forward.
With Siddharth Anand exiting and Rakesh Roshan stepping back, Krrish 4 faces another round of delays. The franchise, known for its pioneering contribution to the superhero genre in Indian cinema, still has a strong fanbase eager to see Hrithik Roshan return as Krrish. Now, all eyes are on FilmKraft and its next steps to bring this ambitious project to life.
