Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly involved himself personally to get Trapp in the camp since he wants to better the goalkeeping at Old Trafford. While it is said that David de Gea’s style is not suiting the Dutch, the United have only Tom Heaton, 36, in reserve.

Kicker has reported that United are lining up to bid for the 32-year-old Trapp in the high single-digits. According to Sport 1, United are okay to pay Trapp close to £180k a week.

Plettenberg also said that ten Hag personally called Trapp to convince him to join the Red Devils who picked a much-needed 2-1 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford on Monday (22).

The German-born Trapp has been called a “world-class” goalkeeper by the Daily Star. He is praised as a fine stopper of shots, skilled in the air and got good footwork. He has also got experience, having clinched two league titles during his stint with Paris Saint-Germain.

Will Frankfurt allow him to go?
