A GLOBAL automotive software company based in the southern Indian state of Kerala will work on the advanced infotainment programme of renowned German luxury carmaker BMW, local media source Mathrubhumi has reported.

Acsia Technologies, which is headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, has been selected as a software development provider by Garmin — a global provider of GPS-enabled products, the report said, adding that the firm joins hands with Germany’s AOX Technologies to develop infotainment systems for BMW.

Most of the software development work will take place at Acsia’s delivery centre in Thiruvananthapuram and the company will even send its engineers to the European country.

“Acsia was selected through a long evaluation process. We are one of the very few Indian companies to do a major automotive software project for the German carmakers. With this cooperation, we further strengthen our foothold in the global automotive sector.

Through the project, the engineers at Acsia and upcoming engineering talents in this part of the world will have the opportunity to work with a world-class Automotive brand,” Jijimon Chandran, CEO of Acsia Technologies was quoted as saying by Mathrubhumi.

Acsia has been working with the government of Kerala’s additional skill acquisition programme in terms of providing inputs to automotive-related courses that are offered by them. The company has also joined hands with many tech institutions in Kerala to make automotive software competent centres to spot engineering talent, the report added.
