Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan has walked the ramp numerous times, but for her, the most special moment remains when she graced the runway while pregnant with her first child, Taimur Ali Khan. At the Lakmé Fashion Week X Fashion Design Council of India (LFW X FDCI) gala, which celebrated 25 years of the iconic fashion event, the actress reminisced about this emotional experience.
Speaking at the star-studded event, Kareena revealed that although she has been a showstopper for several designers over the years, her 2016 LFW finale walk in Sabyasachi bridalwear—while carrying Taimur in her belly—was deeply meaningful. “There have been so many over the years, but the one that I walked with Tim in my stomach will always be special. I’m a mother, it’s emotional,” she shared.
The LFW X FDCI gala, held in Mumbai, featured Indian-origin Hollywood actor Kal Penn as the host. Dressed in a sleek black outfit designed by celebrity-favorite Manish Malhotra, Kal asked Kareena about her take on fashion critics.
Kareena responded with her characteristic candor: “I love fashion critics because most of them speak the truth. We have movie critics who keep actors on their toes, so even fashion critics should keep some of the designers and models on their toes. It’s okay.”

When asked what goes through her mind before stepping onto the runway, she quipped, “Don’t fall. But if I do, I’ll pick myself up and suck my tummy in.”
Kal Penn also brought up a long-standing rumor about Kareena in Hollywood circles. He recounted a story where an assistant director knocked on Kareena’s vanity van door to inform her that her shot was ready. Apparently, Kareena looked into the mirror and replied with a legendary line:
“But I’m not.”
When asked if the story was true, the actress playfully responded, “What happens in my vanity van stays in my vanity van.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan has been the face of Lakmé for years and used the event to announce an exciting new phase in her partnership with the beauty brand. The actress, dressed in a stunning beige bralette and lehenga by Manish Malhotra, expressed her gratitude and admiration for the industry’s behind-the-scenes heroes.
“Whether it was walking the ramp when I was size zero or with Taimur in my belly, whether I was size 10 or 12, it never mattered. What mattered was that my heart was on the stage with Lakmé Fashion Week,” she said.
Going off-script, Kareena gave a heartfelt shout-out to the fashion stylists, makeup artists, hairstylists, choreographers, and models who make fashion shows a success. “The real icons are those smashing hot 60 models backstage. We owe it to them; they make us look amazing.”
As the event concluded, Kareena reaffirmed her commitment to Lakmé Fashion Week and promised to return to the ramp, maybe not as size zero but owning it with confidence. With designers like Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani, Falguni Shane Peacock, Gaurav Gupta, and Ritu Beri in attendance, the night truly celebrated fashion in all its glory.
