Kanye West has made a shocking and disturbing claim on X (formerly Twitter), alleging that he was involved in an incestuous sexual relationship with his cousin during his childhood. The rapper, now 47, stated that this traumatic experience from his past served as the inspiration for his upcoming song titled “Cousins.”
In a series of posts on Monday (21), West detailed the alleged events, linking them to his cousin’s current incarceration. He wrote, “This song is called COUSINS about my cousin that’s locked in jail for life for killing a pregnant lady a few years after I told him we wouldn’t ‘look at dirty magazines together’ anymore.”
West expressed a sense of responsibility for the alleged early exposure to pornography, stating, “Perhaps in my self centered mess I felt it was my fault that I showed him those dirty magazines when he was 6 and then we acted out what we saw.”
He further elaborated on where he supposedly found the explicit material, claiming, “My dad had playboy magazines but the magazines I found in the top of my moms closet were different.”
In a direct and explicit statement, West added, “My name is Ye and I sucked my cousins d–k till I was 14.”
This revelation comes amidst a series of public statements from the controversial artist. Earlier in April, West issued an apology to his former friend and collaborator Jay-Z for a since-deleted social media message that questioned Jay-Z’s mental capacity and made reference to his and Beyoncé’s young twins, Rumi and Sir Carter.
In his apology, posted on X on April 10th, West wrote, “I’m sorry Jay Z. I be feeling bad about my tweet but I still feel I gave my life to this industry and thought so many people were my family but when I needed family on some real s–t none of these rap n—-s had my back.” Representatives for Jay-Z did not respond to requests for comment at the time.
West, who shares four children – North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm – with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, has been increasingly open about personal and sensitive topics on social media. This latest claim regarding his childhood has sparked significant discussion and concern online. The content warning regarding sexual contact of minors was included in the initial report of West’s statements.
The forthcoming song “Cousins” now carries a heavy and disturbing context, given West’s allegations. It remains to be seen how the song will address these sensitive themes and what further details West might share about his past. The public reaction to these claims and the upcoming music is likely to be significant.
