THE trailer for the second season of Paatal Lok was released on Monday, introducing a fresh case set against the backdrop of Nagaland.

The show, which streams on Prime Video from January 17, will see Jaideep Ahlawat reprising his role as Inspector Hathi Ram Chaudhary.

The eight-episode crime thriller is directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware and produced by Clean Slate Filmz in association with Eunoia Films.

The series marks a significant milestone for Ahlawat, who received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of the weary yet determined investigator when the first season premiered in 2020.

Reflecting on the role, Ahlawat said, “Hathi Ram Chaudhary wasn’t just a character, it became a mirror reflecting the complexities of society and humanity, striking a chord with millions worldwide.”

Season two promises a deeper exploration of Chaudhary’s struggles, as he faces new moral dilemmas and challenges.

“With Season 2, we delve even deeper into Hathi Ram’s psyche. This season unravels the raw, vulnerable side of him as he grapples with new adversities, uncharted moral dilemmas, and his own shadows,” Ahlawat added.

The trailer hints at the investigation into the murder of a prominent Nagaland leader, with Chaudhary’s team navigating systemic corruption and power struggles.

Returning cast members include Ishwak Singh and Gul Panag, with newcomers such as Tillotama Shome, Nagesh Kukunoor, and Jahnu Barua joining the ensemble.

The show’s creators, including writer and executive producer Sudip Sharma, aim to retain the gritty tone of the first season while expanding the narrative scope.

As Chaudhary states in the trailer, “Someone is pulling out the puzzle pieces of this case, and my experience tells me we can either save our jobs or do our duty in such situations.”
