RONA-LEE Shimon, the Israeli actor who has been known for her role ‘Nurit’ in popular web series ‘Fauda’, has come out in support of India over its stand on the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.

Lauding New Delhi’s support for the Israeli side amid the deadly war that has killed several thousands on both sides, she said she felt “grateful to have a great ally like India”.

“I love the people of India. I understand why the first thing you people did was to condemn the horrible action of October 7. I would expect nothing less. It is the best thing you can do for us and stand by our side,” she was quoted as saying in a report by India Today.

She also said that condemning the attack carried out by Hamas on Israel was the best thing India could do for the Jewish state.

“India is one of my favourite places on earth. I love its people and have visited India five times,” she added.

In another video posted on social media, Shimon thanked everybody around the world who has backed Israel at this time.

“October 7th will go down in history books as one of the most horrific massacres ever done in the history of the world. Thank you for not being silent,” the 40-year-old actress said.

In another video posted by Asian News International, Shimon was seen in tears as she spoke about the conflict.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi expressed support for Israel twice since the war erupted but the Indian external affairs ministry later reiterated its call for the creation of a sovereign state of Palestine.

Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, launched a surprise attack against Israel on October 7, and it included launching more than 5,000 rocket strikes from Gaza and killing civilians at a music festival and several other regions in the southern part of the country.

Israel launched ‘Operation Iron Swords’ in retaliation and the bloody fight between the two forces has so far killed thousands.

Earlier, Israeli actor Idan Amedi, who also featured in ‘Fauda,’ joined the Israeli Defence Force.

Days before, another ‘Fauda’ producer and actor Lior Raz took to the front lines, joining Israeli volunteer group ‘Brothers in Arms’.
