BURJ KHALIFA, the iconic landmark in the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday (28) was lit up with lights and images of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after they won the 2024 edition beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final.

Besides the KKR team’s purple colour, logo and players, the world’s tallest building was also lit up with an image of Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan, one of the co-owners of the franchise that won its third title and the first after 2014. He is seen wearing a purple T-shirt and sunglasses and sporting a smile.

The projections also featured texts reading, “Congrats KKR. Congrats SRK.”

A video of the lit up Burj Khalifa was posted on KKR’s official Instagram handle. It was captioned, “View from the top. It’s all purple. #AmiKKR #RukengeNahiJhukengeNahi (we will not stop, we will now bow)”

“The power of SRK”, “The power of Global King SRK,” were some other comments that were seen under the video.

Khan himself has also featured on the Burj Khalifa in the past on occasions such as his birth anniversaries. Also, trailers of the veteran actor’s last three films — ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Dunki’ were also showcased on the building which is 828 metres tall.

KKR, who were the team to beat in this year’s IPL with 11 wins and just three losses, annihilated SRH in a one-sided final on May 26 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai by 8 wickets after bowling them out for a paltry 113.

Proud, happy and emotional moments were witnessed on the ground after the match and Khan, who suffered a heat stroke in Ahmedabad after his team’s first qualifier match against the same opponents only a few days ago, also joined the party. His family, including his wife Gauri Khan, children Suhana Khan, Aryan and AbRam were also with him along with members of the Bollywood film fraternity.

Juhi Chawla, another co-owner of the franchise, was also present.
