When it seemed that the result of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 might never be reached, thanks to heavy rain that intervened on the reserve day as well, there was some good news from the ground.

After several inspections made on the turf after rain started in the second half of the match when Chennai Super Kings came out to chase 215 against Gujarat Titans to lift their record-equalling fifth crown, it was decided that the match would resume at 12.10 am IST and the affair will be a 15-over one with Chennai’s target reduced to 171. They were four for no loss in 0.3 overs when play was stopped.

Not a single ball could be bowled on Sunday (28), the original day for the final as heavy rain washed it away at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in Gujarat. On the reserve day, Gujarat put up a formidable total of 214 for 4 with Sai Sudharshan slamming 96 off 47 balls.
