YouTubers Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija, also known as ‘The Rebel Kid,’ are set to appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW) via video conference today. Their request for a virtual appearance was approved after the NCW summoned them along with Ranveer Allahbadia and other content creators over ‘derogatory’ remarks made on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent.

The NCW had initially asked Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others to appear in person at their New Delhi office on February 17 at noon. However, sources indicate that Allahbadia, who has been at the center of the controversy due to his explicit remarks, has not responded to the NCW regarding his attendance.

The controversy erupted following a statement made by Allahbadia on the show, which led to severe backlash on social media and among public figures. During an episode, he posed an outrageous question:

“Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?”

The remark quickly went viral, drawing strong criticism for its offensive and crude nature. Many users slammed Allahbadia and the creators for promoting such inappropriate content without issuing any warnings or content filters.

Along with Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and Apoorva Mukhija, NCW’s summons were also issued to other YouTubers, including Jaspreet Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, Tushar Poojari, and Saurabh Bothra. The women’s panel strongly condemned the remarks made on the show, emphasizing the violation of dignity and respect.

“These comments, which have sparked widespread public outrage, violate the dignity and respect owed to every individual, particularly in a society that upholds equality and mutual respect,” stated the NCW.

Following the controversy, the Guwahati Police registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against all judges on the show, including Allahbadia, Raina, Chanchlani, Singh, and Mukhija. Additionally, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has taken legal action, filing an FIR against more than 30 people associated with India’s Got Latent.

Samay Raina, who is currently out of the country, requested to record his statement via video conferencing. However, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell denied his request, insisting that he appear in person. He has been asked to record his statement on February 18.

Meanwhile, multiple complaints have been filed against the YouTubers, including a case in the Bandra Magistrate Court, urging stringent legal action against those who made the offensive remarks. The issue has sparked a wider debate about content moderation on digital platforms and the ethical responsibility of influencers.

With NCW’s inquiry underway and legal proceedings intensifying, the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent continues to unfold. While Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija will attend the NCW hearing virtually, all eyes remain on Ranveer Allahbadia, whose next legal move is yet to be confirmed.
