India’s competition regulating body on Thursday (20) said it has fined Alphabet Inc’s Google Rs 13.38 billion ($161.95 million or £144 million) over anti-competitive practices related to Android mobile devices, Reuters reported.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) also asked Google not to offer any incentives to smartphone makers for carrying its search services exclusively, the report added.
Google did not respond to a request for comment immediately.
Google is facing a series of anti-trust cases in the South Asian nation and stricter tech-sector regulations.
India’s competition watchdog is also reportedly looking into Google’s business conduct in the smart television market and its in-app payments system.
