TO BOLSTER bilateral defence cooperation with the UK, the Indian Navy recently engaged in a maritime partnership exercise with its British counterpart.
The navy’s indigenous stealth frigate, INS Sahyadri, participated in the Maritime Partnership Exercise with Royal Navy’s RFA Argus and RFA Lyme Bay, part of the UK Littoral Response Group South. The Indian naval force confirmed this.
The exercise held on April 25 had the objective of boosting interoperability and fostering stronger maritime cooperation between the two countries.

“Tactical manoeuvres, boarding ops, surface engagement against simulated asymmetric threats, cross deck visits & cross deck helo ops conducted,” the Indian Navy posted on X, adding, “The exercises provided an opportunity for both navies to exchange best practices & benefit from each other’s experience & expertise.”

The exercise gave an opportunity for both navies to: exchange best practices, benefit from each other’s experience and expertise, besides enhancing their capabilities in maritime operations.
This exercise also demonstrated the Indian Navy’s commitment to strengthening maritime partnerships and promoting regional stability.
The exercise comes as a notable development in the defence partnership between India and the UK.
