A SHARJAH-BASED Indian expat has won the Dh25 million (£5.45 m) grand prize in Big Ticket’s series 271 draw held in Abu Dhabi.

The winner, Ashik Patinharath (38), hails from Kerala and works in the real estate sector by managing properties.

He bought six tickets online for Dh1,000 and one of them fetched him the jackpot.

When the Big Ticket show hosts Richard and Bouchra called him to break the happy news, he thought it might be a ruse put forth by some scamsters.

Patinharath plans to use the amount to expand his real estate business.

His family comprising wife, three children, two sisters and parents were delighted to hear the news.

Patinharath claims he has been trying his luck by buying tickets for the last 10 years.

For those who haven’t won yet, he suggests they should not give up and continue buying tickets.
