THE consecration of the much-awaited Ram temple in the northern Indian holy town of Ayodhya will take place on Monday (22) and the Indian space agency — the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) — released a glimpse of the magnificent temple as seen from the space using the country’s own satellites on the eve of the mega event.
In the picture, the temple site spread over 2.7 acres can be seen. An enlarged view of the same has also been provided using the Indian Remote Sensing series of satellites. The picture of the temple, which is still being constructed, was taken on December 16 last year. Dense fog over Ayodhya during the winter made sighting of the temple from space difficult.

Dasrath Mahal, which is believed to have served both as the capital of King Dasrath, the father of Lord Ram, and the latter’s home when he was a youngster, can be seen. The redeveloped Ayodhya railway station, which prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated in December, is also seen.
The image has reportedly been processed by the National Remote Sensing Centre located in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, a part of ISRO.
