India Independence Day celebrated at Cardiff Castle; politicians, army officers, cops attend

The event was organised by Indian honorary consul Raj Aggarwal.

AN official ceremony of the Indian government to commemorate the country’s 77th Independence Day at Cardiff Castle in Cardiff, Wales, saw a major turnout. Hundreds of guests took part in the flag-hoisting ceremony at the historical venue which was surrounded by dozens of Indian Tricolours to mark the occasion.

The event was organised by Indian honorary consul Raj Aggarwal and was attended by Welsh assembly minister Jane Hutt, Cardiff deputy Lord mayor Jane Henshaw and senior officers from the armed forces, police and community leaders.

The British Army Band Tidworth performed for the guests.

The hoisted Indian National Flag flew over the castle for the day.

Speaking on the occasion, Aggarwal said, “Indian Independence Day is celebrated all over the world with lots of love and pride, and to celebrate it with all our friends and colleagues.”
