The 64-year-old Sitharaman, one of the prominent leaders of the Narendra Modi government, took over as India’s first full-time woman finance minister from the late Arun Jaitley in May 2019. She also heads the ministry of corporate affairs. Born in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Sitharaman had worked at the UK’s Agricultural Engineers Association and the BBC World Service before joining politics. She was also India’s junior finance minister in 2014 and served as the defence minister between 2017 and 2019. She has also been a member of India’s National Commission for Women.

Malhotra is the daughter of Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL and industrialist. She is responsible for all strategic decisions for HCL Technologies, said Forbes. She succeeded her father in the role in 2020.
