INDIAN wicket-keeper-batter Rishabh Pant has added a second date of birth to his social media profiles and it is January 5, 2023, which is just a week after he survived a near fatal car crash in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand on December 30 last year.

The explosive wicket-keeper-batter, who is yet to turn 26, is currently rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and according to reports, his progress has been positive. The cricketer has been sharing regular updates about his recovery on social media and recently, he posted a video showing him ditching his crutches and walking without any support. There was another video showing him climbing the stairs without crutches albeit slowly.

Initially, the addition of a second date of birth led to widespread speculation but it was clearly a reference to the cricketer finding a new lease of life post the horrible accident.

Pant was driving his Mercedes while going to Roorkee in Uttarakhand to meet family members when he fell asleep at the wheel in the wee hours, resulting in his vehicle crashing into a divider and catching fire. Pant managed to exit on time but he was seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital.

The cricketer, who has played 30 Tests, 33 one-day internationals and 66 T20 matches for India scoring six hundreds and last appeared for the national side in Bangladesh in December, is uncertain for India’s World Cup campaign at home later this year.

He also missed the Indian Premier League this year.
