INDIA on Sunday (22) celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan and besides the common man, political leaders and others wished people on the auspicious occasion to mark love between siblings. On the day, women of all ages tie a thread called ‘rakhi’ on the wrists of their brothers (who can be someone even without blood relations), symbolically protecting them, and receive a gift in return.

The occasion is celebrated annually on the full moon in the Hindu month of ‘Shravan‘.

Indian president Ram Nath Kovind and vice president M Venkaiah Naidu greeted their countrymen on the occasion.
