The India Business Group, a leading strategic advisory entity from London with teams of specialist researchers and professional advisors across the UK and India, has come forward to help Sheffield City Council and regional partners with developing new pathways and partnerships to leverage emerging business opportunities in the UK and India corridor.
The partners hosted a special roundtable meeting with business, community and civic leaders to identify opportunities and connections for both local and Indian businesses to trade, innovate and grow across sectors while aligning strategic priorities to tap into the region’s highly skilled workforce.
As the fourth largest city in the UK and globally recognised as the original “Steel City”, Sheffield is one of the UK’s most innovative and entrepreneurial regions with several world class assets and facilities.
As home to the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC, based at the University of Sheffield), it remains a key player in the world of future manufacturing and an ideal choice for global brands like Rolls Royce, Boeing and McLaren.
The city’s growing infrastructure, business partnerships, research and development plans and vibrant arts and cultural heritage are something that are already known and that makes it a highly attractive city to live, work, study and invest in.
“We are delighted to be formally working with Sheffield City Council and regional partners to strengthen strategic engagement in and with India, with a particular focus on promoting new and emerging opportunities and facilitating bilateral partnerships across business, trade, investment, education and sports. As a vibrant and dynamic region, renowned for making, thinking and investing, there is significant untapped potential to boost Sheffield and India relations,” Amarjit Singh, chief executive officer, India Business Group, said.
Kate Martin, executive director at Sheffield City Council said, “Through our strategic collaboration with the India Business Group, we are keen to promote our innovative City and region to a wider global audience and help unlock new business opportunities, innovation and knowledge exchange, supporting our post-pandemic economic recovery. India remains a key strategic priority market for our region and we look forward to enhancing collaborative opportunities, based on our world class strengths and specialisms.”
