Air India has introduced a real time baggage-tracking feature for passengers on its website and mobile application. In recent times, there have been complaints against the airline about lost baggage and delays in getting baggage. The Tata Group-owned carrier on Thursday said it is one of the select few airlines in the world to provide this convenience directly to guests without any intervention from airline staff. Among others, current location and arrival details about baggage will be available for the passengers. “The status coverage includes all important baggage touch points where baggage tracking technology is available such as check-in, security clearance, aircraft loading, transfers, and arrival in the baggage claim area,” the airline said in a release.
The India-Austria Business Forum held in Vienna on Wednesday (10) underscored a robust framework for bilateral cooperation spanning multiple sectors. Speaking on bilateral trade dynamics in New Delhi, R K Singh, secretary, department for promotion of industry and internal trade under India’s commerce and industry ministry noted, “The two-way trade between India and Austria is worth about $2 billion (£1.54 billion), it is relatively well balanced.” He underscored the strategic importance of sustainable growth and highlighted the success stories of multinational corporations investing in India. The event, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry in collaboration with Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and Federation of Austrian Industries, coincided with prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Austria.
Indian communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday said mobile phone penetration in the country stands at 70-80 per cent of citizens and some 120 crore (1,200 million) devices are currently in use. The priority now is to increase the scope of the 4G network in the country, Scindia told reporters. For the first time, India has created a 4G stack with indigenous technology and based on it efforts are being made to take the coverage to 100 per cent, the minister added. Scindia, who is also the minister for development of North Eastern Region, said he will tour the north-eastern states of Assam and Meghalaya starting Friday (12).
Chairman of Indian realty major DLF, Rajiv Singh, is the richest real-estate entrepreneur having wealth of Rs 124,420 crore (£11.5 million), followed by Macrotech Developers founder Mangal Prabhat Lodha, according to GROHE-Hurun list. Gautam Adani, who otherwise is India’s second richest person, has been ranked third on the list of real-estate tycoons in the GROHE-Hurun list released on Thursday. Hurun Report released the ‘2024 GROHE-Hurun India Real Estate 100’, ranking India’s most successful real estate companies by value. It has also presented a list of the wealthiest real estate entrepreneurs in the country. Value and wealth calculations are a snapshot of May 31, 2024.
According to PricewaterhouseCoopers India’s latest Voice of the Consumer Survey 2024, 82 per cent of Indian consumers believe that protecting their personal data is the most crucial factor in earning their trust. The survey, which polled 1,000 Indian consumers, provides deep insights into consumer sentiment and shopping behaviours, emphasising the critical role of data security, sustainable practices, and authentic brand engagement. Despite 58 per cent of consumers purchasing products through social media, it remains the least trusted channel. A significant 76 per cent of respondents expressed concerns about privacy and data sharing on these platforms, the survey said.
