When another follower asked Mahindra to give Chopra the first XUV700 unit, Mahindra, an ardent sports fan, said, “We hear you”.
In another tweet, he shared a coin with a symbol of a javelin thrower and said, “The Javelin throw is arguably the most frequently used image for commemorative coins. We need to have one officially released depicting #NeerajChopra.” He also tagged prime minister Narendra Modi and Union sports minister Anurag Thakur.
Chopra became the first individual gold winner at the Olympics since the 2008 edition when Abhinav Bindra won the top medal in shooting. He also became the first in free India to win a medal in a track-and-field event.
This is not the first time that Mahindra has announced rewarding sportspersons from India with vehicles made by his company. In January, Mahindra gifted six Indian cricketers its popular Thar SUV after the team beat Australia in a Test series in their den.
