INDIAN archer Pravin Jadhav continued with his reasonably good form at the maiden Olympics in Tokyo on Wednesday (28) when he knocked out world No.2 Galshan Bazarzhapov from Russia in straight sets to enter the second round of the men’s individual event.

Windy conditions at the Yumenoshima Park in Tokyo troubled the Russian who struggled with two 7s and an 8 while the Indian looked composed to wrap it up 6-0. The 25-year-old Jadhav, who impressed in the team events, will take on the winner of the game between world No.1 Brady Ellison of the United States and Milad Vaziri Teymoorlooei of Iran in the round of 32.

Rai was badly affected by wind as he shot a poor seven to lose the first set by four points before levelling the match 2-2 by winning the second set by slender margin of one point.

This was the second successive round-two exit for Rai, 37, who made his Olympic debut at Athens in 2004. He had a thrilling come-from-behind win over Ukraine’s Oleskii Hunbin in the first round but the world No.92 Israeli shattered his dreams.
