NEARLY a fortnight after a Hindu temple in Canada was attacked by a pro-Khalistani mob, a new video has emerged showing a Khalistani supporter urging Canadians to “go back to Europe”.
In the video, which is being widely shared online, a man can be heard shouting, “This is our country, we are the owners of Canada, we are proud Canadians. Khalistan, this is our country. You are from Europe. Go back to Europe, go back to England. You are not Canadians, you are invaders, we are native Indians,”
Many in the video are seen holding Khalistani flags.
Media reports suggest that the video was shot during a ‘Nagar Kirtan’ held in connection with the Guru Nanak Jayanti.
This incident comes shortly after the November 3 incident when Khalistani supporters disrupted a consular event co-organised by the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton and the Indian Consulate.
The incident was condemned by Trudeau who said every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely.
The attack drew widespread international condemnation and India had demanded strict action from Canadian authorities.
India’s external affairs ministry said it was “deeply concerned” about the safety and security of Indian nationals in Canada.
The Indian consulate in Toronto said it was scrapping some of the planned consular events this month because of Canadian “security agencies conveying their inability to provide minimum security protection” to organisers.
India and Canada are currently locked in a diplomatic row over the killing of Khalistan extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
The relations between the two countries came under severe strain following Trudeau’s allegations in September last year of a “potential” involvement of Indian agents in Nijjar’s killing.
New Delhi rejected Trudeau’s charges as “absurd”.
India expelled six Canadian diplomats and withdrew its high commissioner Sanjay Verma and other “targeted” officials from Canada after strongly dismissing Ottawa’s charges.
India has been maintaining that the main issue between the two countries is that of Canada giving space to pro-Khalistan elements operating from Canadian soil with impunity. (Agencies)
