In India’s Karnataka, man slits friend’s throat suspecting affair with wife, drinks his blood; video goes viral

The injured friend survived the attack and was undergoing treatment in hospital.

IN an incident that would send chills down one’s spine, a man in the southern Indian state of Karnataka has been arrested for allegedly splitting his friend’s throat and drinking his blood, suspecting he was having an affair with his wife, according to officials.

The victim survived the attack and is undergoing treatment in hospital.

The horrific incident, which was reported from Chikkaballapur in southern Karnataka, has been recorded on camera by a witness.

According to police, the accused named Vijay suspected his friend Maresh was having an illicit affair with his wife. On June 19, he asked Maresh to meet him on the pretext of come work. After meeting, the duo got engaged in an argument and when it escalated, Vijay allegedly slit Maresh’s throat with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage.

In a video of the incident taken by a witness, Vijay was seen holding his injured friend down, appearing to drink his blood.

Vijay appeared to question Maresh and asked him if he should kill him. He was seen bending down and appeared to drink blood oozing out of Maresh’s throat slit open. He was also seen hitting and slapping his friend.

The accused was arrested after the video went viral on social media. A case of attempt to murder was registered against him with the police, officials said.

Police said the weapon with which Maresh’s throat was slit open was small and did not cause deep injury.
