ACTORS Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson are set to lead the cast of the musical film “Song Sung Blue,” which is being directed by Craig Brewer for Focus Features.

The film, inspired by a true story, revolves around two struggling musicians who come together to form a Neil Diamond tribute band. As they navigate their musical journey, the characters, played by Hudson and Jackman, find that it’s never too late to rekindle their passion for life or find love.

The project is based on the 2008 documentary “Song Sung Blue” by Greg Kohs. In addition to Hudson and Jackman, the film features a supporting cast that includes Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley.

Brewer, who is also writing the screenplay, is known for directing the 2011 “Footloose” remake, “Dolemite Is My Name,” and “Coming 2 America.” The movie will be produced by John Davis and John Fox for Davis Entertainment alongside Brewer.
