KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS (KKR) on Sunday (26) lifted their third Indian Premier League (IPL) title after they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a one-sided final of the 2024 edition at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
SRH, led by Australian speedster Pat Cummins, won the toss and elected to bat but his team had a repeat of the horrendous show displayed in the first qualifier in Ahmedabad on Monday (21) as a flawless bowling performance from KKR reduced them to 90 for 8.
Cummins himself was the top scorer for his side with 24 but yet Hyderabad were all out for a paltry 113, the lowest score in any IPL final. Kolkata needed a little over 10 overs to overhaul the target, losing just two wickets. Venkatesh Iyer scored yet another unbeaten fifty against the same opponent to take the side home which burst into celebrations soon after.
