However, recent reports suggest that their relationship is going through a rough phase, and they might be heading for a divorce. A report by The Now India claims that the couple has been dealing with constant disagreements and lifestyle differences, which have created irreconcilable conflicts. Sunita has made multiple public appearances recently, giving interviews and appearing on podcasts, but Govinda has been notably absent from these.
According to ZoomTV, one of the major reasons behind their alleged separation is Govinda’s rumored closeness with a 30-year-old Marathi actress. Although neither Govinda nor Sunita has made an official statement regarding this, speculation has been rife about how this has impacted their marriage.
Adding to the growing rumors, Sunita Ahuja recently gave an interview to Hindi Rush, where she disclosed that she and Govinda do not live together under the same roof. Her statement fueled further curiosity among fans regarding the state of their relationship.
She shared, “We have two houses, and we have a bungalow opposite our apartment. I have my temple and my kids in the flat. He loves talking, so he’ll gather 10 people and sit chatting with them.”
Although Sunita tried to clarify that their separate living arrangements were due to lifestyle choices rather than personal conflicts, fans couldn’t help but wonder if this was a sign of deeper issues in their marriage.
Govinda and Sunita’s love story is nothing short of a Bollywood romance. The two met when Govinda’s uncle married Sunita’s elder sister. Despite their different backgrounds—Sunita coming from an affluent family in Mumbai and Govinda hailing from a small town in Virar—their relationship blossomed. Their love story began when Sunita was just 15, and they frequently exchanged love letters. Eventually, their families discovered their relationship, and the couple tied the knot when Sunita was 18 and Govinda was 24.

However, to protect his budding Bollywood career, Govinda kept his marriage a secret for several years. It wasn’t until after the birth of their daughter, Tina, in 1988 that the actor publicly acknowledged his marriage. The couple later welcomed a son, Yashvardhan, in 1997.
Throughout his career, Govinda was linked with actresses like Neelam Kothari and Rani Mukerji, but these relationships were never officially confirmed. In an earlier interview, Govinda had admitted that he regretted hiding his marriage and later remarried Sunita on their 25th wedding anniversary as per his mother’s wish.
Despite the swirling rumors, neither Govinda nor Sunita Ahuja has confirmed or denied their divorce plans. Fans are eagerly waiting for an official statement from the couple regarding the status of their marriage. Until then, speculation continues to grow about whether this is just a temporary rough patch or if Bollywood is about to witness another high-profile split.
