A 25-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in Hyderabad for the alleged sexual assault of a 22-year-old German tourist, police said on Tuesday (1).
The incident happened late Monday, when the man offered the victim and her male friend a lift in a hired car.
The man, who previously worked as a driver in Dubai, allegedly raped her in the rear seat of the car.
Based on a complaint, a case was registered, and the victim has been sent for medical examination, police said.
The victim, along with her fellow countryman, arrived in Hyderabad on March 4 to visit a friend who had previously studied with them in Italy, and explore the city, police said.

The two German nationals stayed at their host’s residence in Meerpet and visited various landmarks in the city.
On Monday, while the victim and her friend were on their way to a nearby vegetable market, they were approached by the accused, who was driving a car with five minor friends.
The occupants greeted them, and upon learning that they were heading to the market, offered them a lift.
The victim and her friend boarded the car, and the group took them to places of tourist interest in the city.
They later proceeded towards Mamidipally on the city outskirts, where the accused told others, including the victim’s friend, to step out to take photographs.
He then drove the victim approximately 100 metres away to a secluded location and “raped” her inside the car, the police said.
After committing the crime, he drove back to the spot where the others were earlier dropped.
The victim jumped out of the moving car and, along with her friend, returned to the city, police said.
Their host lodged a complaint at Pahadishareef police station, and a case was registered.
During the investigation, the accused was apprehended on Tuesday.
He told the police that he previously worked as a driver in Dubai and had been out of work for the last one year.
The accused hired a car through a long drive app, and the vehicle has been seized by the police.
