Former world champions England were set to kick off their campaign at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Monday (21) when they will face Iran. However, while eyes will be on the 2018 semi-finalists as they take the field at Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan, the media will also keep a watch on the English players’ wives and girlfriends (WAGs), who are known for their bold fashion statements.
According to reports, England’s WAGs have been asked to don modest dresses in Qatar, which is a strict Islamic nation.
According to dailymail.co.uk, “Short skirts and low-cut tops are among the outfits that one stylist has told the WAGs to leave behind to help them dress modestly.”
“Tight shorts and revealing skirts have also been advised against.”
The WAGs have also been asked to consider wearing a scarf to wear around their necks.
The dailymail.co.uk report added that Anouska Santos (partner of Luke Shaw); Liv Naylor (partner of John Stones); and Lucia Loi (fiancee of Marcus Rashford) sought assistance ahead of arriving for England’s opening match.
England have been clubbed with Iran, USA, and Wales in Group B of this year’s World Cup.
The USA and Wales will play in the other game of the group on Monday at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan.
On Sunday (20), Ecuador defeated hosts Qatar 2-0 in the opening match.
