ACE Indian fencer Bhavani Devi, who became the country’s first representative in her sport in Tokyo Olympic earlier this year, has won the women’s Sabre individual event at Charlellville National Competition in France.
Bhavani, 27, thanked coach Christian Bauer, Arnaud Schneider and all other teammates for her victory.
“Won the Charlellville National Competition, France in the Women’s Sabre individual. Many thanks to coach Christian Bauer, Arnaud Schneider, and all teammates Congratulations to all for a great start of the season,” she tweeted.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) also congratulated the fencer on her win on Twitter.
“Heartiest congratulations to @IamBhavaniDevi on winning the Women’s Sabre Person fencing Individual event at the Charlellville National Competition, France,” it posted.

In July, Bhavani started her Olympic journey by dominating Tunisi’s Ben Azizi Nadia 15-3 in just 6 minutes and 14 seconds but went down while competing against France’s Manon Brunet who won bronze in the tournament.
