ABU Dhabi’s Etihad Airways on Saturday (7) will resume flights from five Indian cities and they are Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore, Trivandrum and New Delhi.

From August 10, the carrier will start flights from three more Indian cities and as many Pakistani cities and Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for transit passengers to access Etihad’s global destinations.

The three Indian cities are Ahmedabad (transit only), Hyderabad and Mumbai while the Pakistani ones are Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. Etihad will also operate flights from Dhaka and Colombo.

Passengers flying back to the United Arab Emirates must have a valid residency and proof of having received both the doses of the Covid vaccine within the UAE no less than 14 days before travel. Unvaccinated people in certain categories who are eligible to return include medical workers, UAE-based teachers, students, patients undergoing medical treatment in the UAE, employees who work for federal or local government bodies, etc.

The passengers must apply through the Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship website for permission to return. These categories are in addition to the previously exempt ones of UAE nationals, official delegates, Golden residence holders and diplomatic missions.

Etihad said all passengers will be subject to acceptance and quarantine conditions.

Etihad will also resume passenger flights to London and Manchester from Sunday (August 8). The announcement came following the UAE’s addition to the UK ‘amber list’ which means passengers fully vaccinated against the virus will no longer have to quarantine on arrival in the UK.
