THE INDIAN adaptation of “The Night Manager”, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, and Sobhita Dhulipala, did not secure a win at the 2024 International Emmy Awards.

Competing in the Best Drama Series category, it was bested by the French series “Les Gouttes de Dieu” (Drops of God).

Directed by Sandeep Modi and Priyanka Ghose, the Indian series is based on John le Carré’s novel and the British adaptation featuring Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. It was the sole Indian nominee across 14 categories this year, as announced on September 19.

The awards ceremony was hosted by Indian comedian Vir Das in New York on Monday night. Das, who won an International Emmy last year for his stand-up special Landing, became the first Indian to host the event.

Other nominees for Best Drama Series included The Newsreader – Season 2 (Australia) and Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido – Season 2 (Argentina). On its official X page, the International Emmys announced the winner, posting:

“The International Emmy for Drama Series goes to ‘Les Gouttes de Dieu [Drops of God]’ Produced by Legendary Entertainment / Les Productions Dynamic / 22H22 / Adline Entertainment / France Televisions / Hulu Japan #iemmyWIN.”

India has previously won in this category only once, with season one of “Delhi Crime”, headlined by Shefali Shah, in 2020.

Ahead of the event, Kapur and co-director Modi walked the red carpet. Nominees at the 2024 ceremony represented diverse countries, including Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Japan, and Germany.
