THE TRAILER for HBO Max’s upcoming series “Dune: Prophecy”, a prequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, has been released.

The six-episode show, which premieres in India on JioCinema on November 18, takes viewers 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert’s original novel.

The series explores the story of two Harkonnen sisters fighting to protect humanity and establish the legendary Bene Gesserit order. It is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, and was previously known as “Dune: The Sisterhood”.

The cast includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Travis Fimmel, among others. Tabu features as Sister Francesca, who is described as “strong, intelligent, and alluring,” with her return to the Emperor’s palace causing a shift in the capital’s power dynamics.

Alison Schapker serves as the showrunner and executive producer alongside Diane Ademu-John, who co-developed the series. The production is a collaboration between HBO and Legendary Television.

The show builds on the world introduced in Villeneuve’s Dune films, which were released in 2021 and 2023. Charlotte Rampling and Rebecca Ferguson played pivotal roles in these movies, depicting characters connected to the Bene Gesserit order.
