THE Bombay High Court on Thursday (28) granted bail to Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, in the drugs-on-cruise case. The court heard arguments for three days which began on Tuesday (26).

The court also granted bail to Arbaaz Merchant and Munmum Dhamecha in the case. While Aryan and Arbaaz are lodged at the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai, Dhamecha is at Byculla women prison.

Aryan was arrested early on October 3. A team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted an alleged drugs party on a cruise ship which was on its way to Goa from Mumbai. A total of 20 people, including two Nigerian nationals, have been arrested in the case so far.

Aryan and others were refused bail a number of times by the lower courts after which he moved the Bombay High Court.

Aryan, Arbaaz and Dhamecha would be released from jail after the court issues a detailed order in the matter on Friday (29), former attorney general of India Mukul Rohatgi said, Asian News International reported.

Rohatgi, who represented Aryan, told media, “Bombay HC has granted bail to Aryan Khan, Arbaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha after hearing the arguments for three days. The detailed order will be given tomorrow. Hopefully, all they will come out of the jail by tomorrow or Saturday.”

Rohatgi expressed happiness over the order saying, “For me, it is a regular case – to win some, to lose some. I am happy that he (Khan) has got bail.”

He also said that there was “no case of possession of drugs” against Aryan Khan and he was arrested wrongly and “it was a fit case for bail”.
