Nearly five years after the mysterious death of Disha Salian, her father, Satish Salian, has approached the Bombay High Court, seeking a fresh investigation into her case. In a significant development, he has also demanded an inquiry into the alleged involvement of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray in the deaths of both Disha and Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. His petition requests the court to direct the registration of an FIR against Thackeray and transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Satish Salian’s lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, confirmed that they are in the process of officially filing the petition with the Bombay High Court. The plea alleges that Disha was “brutally raped and murdered” and that influential figures orchestrated a politically motivated cover-up. It further argues that Mumbai Police prematurely ruled Disha’s death as a suicide or an accidental fall without conducting a thorough forensic investigation.
Satish Salian linked his daughter’s death on June 8, 2020, to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on June 14, 2020. Advocate Ojha revealed shocking details, questioning why there were no visible bloodstains at the site of Disha’s fall or on her clothes, despite reports of her plunging from the 14th floor. He also alleged that the post-mortem report handed over to the family contradicted the expected injuries from such a high fall.
The plea claims that Disha’s murder took place when Uddhav Thackeray’s government was in power, further adding to suspicions of a cover-up.
Aaditya Thackeray has yet to respond to these fresh allegations. However, his party, Shiv Sena (UBT), has dismissed the accusations, questioning why the case is being revisited after five years.
Former Maharashtra Home Minister and NCP-SCP leader Anil Deshmukh stated, “I am gathering information on the plea filed by Disha Salian’s father. This now seems like part of a conspiracy.” Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve echoed this sentiment, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to tarnish Thackeray’s image.
“I believe this matter is now in court. We don’t know what Disha’s father has said, but Aaditya Thackeray is a mature and young leader,” Danve said. “The BJP is conspiring to defame him and put pressure on him. We don’t need to respond to this conspiracy—the court will provide the answers.”
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut also criticized the timing of Satish Salian’s petition, alleging that it was a deliberate effort to damage the Thackeray family’s reputation.
Disha Salian, who was the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, allegedly died by suicide on June 8, 2020, after reportedly falling from a high-rise building in Malad, Mumbai. She was 28.
Her death came just days before Sushant Singh Rajput’s alleged suicide on June 14, 2020, leading to widespread speculation that both cases were connected.
In December 2022, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe Salian’s death.
