DiCaprio, Scorsese to make crime movie set in 1960s Hawaii

The film is based on an original concept by Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, and will be written by journalist Nick Bilton

HOLLYWOOD star Leonardo DiCaprio will once again team up with filmmaker Martin Scorsese for a crime movie, based on the original idea by Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.

The story, set in Hawaii, will depict an aspiring mob boss navigating a conflict with rival crime factions during the 1960s and 1970s.

The film is based on an original concept by Johnson and Blunt and will be written by journalist Nick Bilton, known for “Fake Famous” (2021).

The movie is expected to be similar in tone to “Goodfellas” and “The Departed”.

DiCaprio and Scorsese, who have previously collaborated on multiple films such as “Gangs of New York“, “The Aviator”, “The Departed”, “Shutter Island”, “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Killers of the Flower Moon“.

The duo will produce the project along with Johnson, Blunt, Bilton, Dany Garcia, Lisa Frechette, and Rick Yorn.

Johnson and Blunt, who co-starred in “Jungle Cruise“, will reunite in this film before also appearing together in The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie.

Meanwhile, DiCaprio and Scorsese are also working on “The Devil in the White City”, an adaptation of Erik Larson’s book.
