THE CHENNAI Family Welfare Court has officially granted divorce to Tamil actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, marking the end of their 18-year marriage.

The couple had announced their separation in early 2022, citing irreconcilable differences.

On January 17, 2022, Dhanush shared a statement on social media, saying, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been one of growth, understanding, adjustment, and adaptation. Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate.” Aishwaryaa posted a similar message.

Married in 2004, the couple has two sons, Linga and Yatra. They continue to co-parent their children, who split their time between their parents’ homes in Poes Garden.

Media reports also note that the divorce proceedings were delayed, as the couple missed all three prior court hearings.

Despite their separation, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa frequently share images with their children on social media, reflecting their shared focus on parenting.
