In a shocking incident, a 39-year-old delivery worker was beaten to death in a road rage in Delhi on Saturday (22), NDTV reported citing police sources.
Two men, identified as Manish Kumar, 19, and Lalchand, 20, were arrested for allegedly beating the victim, Pankaj Thakur, during an argument over not clearing a vehicle’s way in Ranjeet Nagar area of the national capital.
Thakur was found unconscious in an alley on Saturday with his two-wheeler lying next to him. Local residents took him to hospital where the doctors declared him dead. His body bore several injury marks, it was reported.
His identity was revealed through the documents he was carrying. Police found that he worked as an aid in a shop and delivered grocery items. He is survived by his family including wife, son and daughter.
Police scanned footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby and found two men getting out of a cab, arguing with Thakur and beating him up before he collapsed to the ground.
They tracked down the cab using its number and identified the two accused. When they reached their home, they had fled. A manhunt was launched and the duo were arrested on Sunday (23) afternoon, the NDTV report added.
According to the police sources, the accused told them that Thakur was allegedly standing their car’s way with his two-wheeler when they were driving through the alley.
