WITH Delhi registering nine deaths and more than 2,700 cases of dengue since September, the state’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, on Wednesday (10) said his government is keeping a check on the rise in the number of cases and doing whatever is necessary.
Addressing a media conference on the day, Kejriwal said, “Dengue cases have increased this time. We are keeping a check on it and doing everything needed.”
The Aam Aadmi Party leader also hoped that the changing weather in the national capital would help in bringing down the cases of dengue.
“The weather’s changing and I hope dengue cases get controlled within the next 7-10 days,” he said.
The chief minister found support from health experts who said the cases may decrease by the middle of November.
A senior consultant at the department of medicine in Sri Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi told Asian News International on Tuesday that the dengue situation has worsened in the capital this year compared to last year.
“Last year, people were careful because COVID-19 restrictions were there. This year, the situation has worsened in the last four to five weeks,” she was quoted as saying.
She also said that there is a type of “complicated dengue” in which the patients have high fever, bleeding complications, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, etc. She added that such patients need to be taken to intensive care units since they need blood and oxygen support.
